Our History

The History of GT Automotive Group starts when it was founded in 2020 by two close friends with over 20 years of combined motor industry expertise. Both directors have previous experience working in sales, aftersales, marketing, and management departments at multiple franchise dealers.

We became FCA regulated in June 2021, allowing us to provide several financing options to our customers. We then became approved to sell general insurance in 2024 allowing us to offer even more value added products to our customers.

The dealership initially started in Retford with only 5 cars in stock. The directors were responsible for a variety of daily tasks from collecting and delivering cars to valeting and picturing stock.

Within the first six months, business grew rapidly in Retford, leading us to start looking for a bigger location in Sheffield. In November 2022, we opened our new dealership in Sheffield. The site holds over 80 vehicles and houses our on-site aftersales department complete with workshop.

We partnered with RAC to give our customers reliable warranty and breakdown cover. We are also an RAC approved garage allowing us to help with all local breakdowns, service plan holders and RAC customers.

To reduce our carbon footprint and paper waste, we introduced new paperless systems such as Dealerweb and Istoredocs. Furthermore these systems improve customer experience by having all their documents easily accessible in one place. We want our history to show how we have contributed to helping the environment.

Our history has seen much growth to our team along with our stock. The business plans to carry on expanding to multiple larger sites to serve more customers in the wider area.
